Much has been said from many different outlets
about a mental and spiritual paradigm shift that is occurring
in humans. We have all, by now, learned about December 21,
2012 being called the time in which this shift in human
consciousness reaches a pinnacle of intensity. This change
in one’s view of the world deconstructs even the things
we hold dearly, or have thought was dear to us. I will speak
of the first huge deconstruction in my worldview; that is,
how I perceive God and religion.
I, like many people, once believed that a
singular, almighty, all-loving God created the Earth and
our entire universe. This same “all-loving” God allowed
sin to enter the world and also has, for millennia, watched
man struggle in misery, waiting to one day wash man of sin
and fix his problems with his almighty power. Though, all
who did not serve this one God or who lacked faith in his
“righteousness” were to be mass slaughtered by his perfect
Son on the last day. Then after killing about 99% of humans,
just like God did in the supposed flood of Noah's, we would
finally have peace. This is Heaven on Earth, note my sarcasm.
Today, I find this scenario completely ridiculous,
but I see more than that in this formulaic belief system.
Not only does it strip man of his own divinity and power
to solve his own problems, it also is the perfect psychological
lock and chain formula to control “herds” of people. It
starts with the accusation that people are inherently evil,
never measuring up to the extreme code of perfection demanded
by a perfect God. Even worse, most religious teaching states
that, we as mere humans, could never come to understand
God’s all-wise ways of doing things. This teaching may be
fine, if kept in its philosophical context, but unfortunately,
more often than not, church leaders capitalize on this notion.
They claim that God has chosen them only to understand his
revelations, and that the people should respect them much
as they do God himself. They forbid questioning of their
narrow-minded dogmas. Those who do question their “authority”
usually suffer extreme social and familial difficulties.
In the past, people actually were thrown in prison, excommunicated
from society, or executed for their differences in opinion.
My ex-religion, the Jehovah's Witnesses, enforce to this
day a practice called disallows, or the complete shunning
of an individual, even from close family members, for a
difference in belief.
All of these factors lead me to conclude that
society has too many holy cows that need to get their fat
asses out of the way of healing our world. We need to stop
allowing them to sit on those with fresh ideas and ways
of looking at things unencumbered by dogmas and fears that
have more than had their day. I perceive that it is the
duty of us, who have broken out of the cages of spiritual
oppression by the religious, to help our brothers realize
the pitiful state our world is in, and, that it is we humans
that are the ones who are going to change things. We should
point out to them where they are shirking their social responsibilities,
just as we would point out to an alcoholic friend or relative
why their habit is a problem; who they are hurting and explain
the excruciating fate that they are drinking away toward.
We have been sleeping for long enough. It
is time to wake up and think on our feet. Our worldview
affects the world. There will never be a Golden Age, if
we keep on waiting for their procrastinating “God” to bring
one! In fact, we just might let the “Devil” win the war,
if we do.
